Normalized

Walking to school…not knowing what surprise will be waiting for when I get home.

At home…

“Hi Mum,” I said reaching for a hug.

“Hi baby, I don’t think you will be going to school tomorrow.”

“Why? Is someone sick?”

“No, we have a lot of covid cases. We will have to watch the news to find out.”

“wHaT? But I want to go back to school.”

63 days later and I am still in lockdown. The holidays went by and the rest of my term 3. I am so used to waking up and doing everything basically on devices. It’s like it’s normalized in my head. Zoom, google meet, math sheets, and comic strips. I miss going out to the mall, zoo, pools, and movies.

Hopefully one day in the future everything WILL end.
